For many of us, we imagine teleportation to be something close to what we've seen on Star Trek. This isn’t necessarily the process in which we will be able to teleport through space and time. There is a phenomenon named “Quantum Entanglement”, which allows information to be instantaneously sent from one place to another -similar to a text message.
If you would like a thought of yours to travel to the UK, then you can send your thoughts in the form of words, on a text message, from the USA to the UK. This, in principle, is how quantum entanglement will work with respect to teleportation.
The way quantum entanglement works is that when two very small particles come into close proximity, they become “entangled”. Then, you can take one particle to one side of the universe and one to the opposite side and whatever you do to one will direct impact the other.

How would teleportation work?
Well... the current theory suggests that if you entangle billions of particles and then separate these particles into two different machines, then maybe we could use these machines as 'pods' and teleport between these entangled particles.
Quantum Entanglement has been a known phenomenon since 1935, 8 years before Nikola Tesla died. However, in 1891, Nikola Tesla described Quantum Entanglement (44 years before it was supposedly discovered) in the following way;
“Nature has stored up in the universe infinite energy. The eternal recipient and transmitter of this infinite energy is the ether. The recognition of the existence of ether, and of the functions it performs, is one of the most important results of modern scientific research. The mere abandoning of the idea of action at a distance, the assumption of a medium pervading all space and connecting all gross matter, has freed the minds of thinkers of an ever present doubt, and, by opening a new horizon—new and unforeseen possibilities—has given fresh interest to phenomena with which we are familiar of old. It has been a great step towards the understanding of the forces of nature and their multifold manifestations to our senses. It has been for the enlightened student of physics what the understanding of the mechanism of the firearm or of the steam engine is for the barbarian.”
So, where do we stand with this technology 130 years after Tesla had announced its power?
Researchers have made a crucial breakthrough in the development of quantum technology. Their research describes their observations of over 150,000 silicon 'T center' photon-spin qubits, an important milestone that unlocks immediate opportunities to construct massively scalable quantum computers and the quantum internet that will connect them.
We are slowly developing into a new Quantum System. Recent published researched is making huge steps into a Quantum Internet that will inevitably back a Quantum Financial System in order for the financial world to not be left behind.
